TNT Express has announced the launch of its new TNT International and Domestic Operations Centre, North in Hanoi, Vietnam. Designed to handle heavy freight, the new facility is part of TNT’s strategy to leverage the soaring demand for freight express services between Vietnam, the rest of Southeast Asia, China and Europe to grow its business in the region.

Located in the ICD My Dinh, Tu Liem District in the Hanoi capital, the new €1 million facility spans 1,200 square metres and employs 90 full-time staff who will manage the operations of the facility 24/7. The new facility also forms part of the company’s Southeast Asiawide investment of €100 million over the next five years which kicked off in April this year when TNT’s Boeing 747-400 ER Freighter was re-routed to stop at Singapore en route to Shanghai, China from its air hub in Liege, Belgium.

“As Vietnam is strategically located as the link between China and Southeast Asia on our Asia Road Network, the completion of the TNT International and Domestic Operations Centre, North in Hanoi is an integral part of TNT’s growth strategy in the region,”said Onno Boots, regional managing director, TNT Southeast Asia.

More than 40 per cent of volumes to and from TNT Vietnam will pass through the new centre he said adding that growth was expected to be in the high double digit range for the next five years.
