Aeroflot Cargo has been awarded a contract to transport Apple iPhones from Hong Kong to Frankfurt Hahn in partnership with Kuhne&Nagel. Aeroflot Cargo operates 5 flights per week with its MD-11 Freighters on this route and carries between 20-50 tonnes of iPhones – worth nearly US$200-300 million – per flight. From Hahn the iPhones are delivered to Luxembourg by Aeroflot Cargo’s trucks service.
Aeroflot Cargo’s service was closely scrutinised on security grounds by both Apple and K&N prior to being awarded the contract. "Signing up such a prestige order is a great confirmation of the highest level of Aeroflot Cargo’s service. We expect that this agreement is only beginning of our collaboration with Apple," said Aeroflot Cargo’s commercial director, Aleksey Sumchenko.
