Swissport International has announced the acquisition of US-based New Age Security Solutions (NASS) for an undisclosed price. The acquisition will enable Swissport to offer further security solutions at airports alongside its presentairline and cargo security services.
NASS, which is based in the US, was founded soon after the events of September 11, 2001 to help meet the increased security needs of both state and private organisations. The company’s core competencies lie in training and consulting and in developing and implementing airport security concepts.
The acquisition of NASS will enable Swissport International to further expand and develop its aviation security activities and raise its profile in the airport security field, the group said. NASS’ network and expertise should also open up new opportunities for Swissport Cargo Services USA in the rapidly growing cargo securitymarket.
“Swissport needs more knowledge and experience to expand its activities in these fields,” comments Erich Bodenmann, executive VP Aviation Specialty Services at Swissport International. “And NASS isthe partner to provide them.”
NASS’ customers extend to companies from both the private and the public sector and include Miami International Airport, San Francisco Airport, Boston’s Logan Airport and UK-based BAA.
