Kingfisher Airlines plans to launch a service to Sri Lanka by the end of 2008, with three services per week from an unspecified Indian city.
The carrier’s first international service is set to take flight in August with routes from Bangalore to San Francisco, London and New York. Th is will be followed by expansion to Houston, and regionally to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Deccan, in which Kingfisher’s parent acquired a controlling stake last year – creating India’s largest domestic carrier – completes five years of domestic services on 26 August this year qualifying it to fl y internationally under Indian government regulations.
Deccan’s international rights will become immediately eligible for transfer to Kingfisher.
