Cargolux has announced that from 6 April, the company will start a weekly B747-400 freighter service to Miami, with continuation to Houston, before returning to Cargolux’s home base in Luxembourg.
On board Cargolux’s B747-400 freighters to Miami and Houston will mostly be machinery, oil well equipment and automotive parts, the carrier said. Cargolux will also off er connections on ‘through airway-bill’ to Latin American destinations like Manaus, Caracas and Lima.
In addition to this new service, Cargolux operates one flight to Houston on Thursdays, with optional additional trucking services from Los Angeles to Houston, in connection with the company’s Los Angeles flights which are operated on Wednesdays.
Cargolux has also introduced a third frequency in the Far East to meet demand from Kazakhstan’s growing economy.
Cargolux carries mainly general cargo, engineering infrastructure equipment, hi-tech items, cars, perishables and foodstuffs to Almaty, while on the return flights from Asia to Europe, the freight mainly comprises IT related components, telecommunications and audio equipment, machinery and textiles.
The two other flights are operated on Thursdays via Hong Kong / Budapest, and on Sundays, via Shanghai. In Kazakhstan, Cargolux is represented by its General Sales Agent, Nomad Cargo.
