Aeroflot Cargo has become the first Russian airline to fly a converted B737-300freighter. The 15.4 tonne capacity B737-300 finished its first technique flight enrouteSingapore ¨C Bangkok ¨C New Delhi¨C Tashkent ¨C Moscow recently, accordingto Aeroflot.
Aeroflot Cargo said it plans to start commercial flights on the using the B-737 to Manchester, Helsinki and Paris. At the beginning of 2008 Aeroflot Cargo will take delivery of the 2nd B-737-300.
Aeroflot Cargo considers the B-737- 300 freighter, with a range of 4,600 km as the ideal type of cargo aircraft for middle range flights from Moscow to Europe, Middle East and destinations of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It will let the company to increase its airfreight network, to attract new cargo flows and combine long range with middle range transportations, the company said.
Meanwhile, Aeroflot Cargo has announced its director general, Andrey Goryashko, has resigned.
“I’m happy to acknowledge that Aeroflot Cargo has successfully passed its complicated setting-up process and taken its stable position in the market as the results of the first year work are positive and more than optimistic,¡± said Goryashko.
Goryashko will participate in alternative industry projects according to a company statement. “I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for your fruitful co-operation and respect to me as a manager of a major industry project. I would very much like to thank you for your understanding, real help and assistance to the company I headed,” said Goryashko.
