Delta Cargo has recently approved the carriage of Envirotainer temperature-controlled containers which are widely used by pharmaceutical companies transporting raw materials and products as well as for transporting perishable foodstuffs.
Specifically, the US carrier has agreed to accept Envirotainer’s RKN t2 and RAP t2 containers on board a worldwide network which now covers more than 300cities in 56 countries.
“Delta Cargo’s acceptance of Envirotainer’s containers is just one more step we are taking to meet the varied needs of our customers,” commented Delta Cargo managing director Ben Darnell. “Highly sensitive products require a temperature- controlled environment and these containers are a proven tool for effectively handling these shipments.”
Delta’s decision to begin using the containers followed extensive trials carried out by its own engineers, working closely with Envirotainer cold chain management and research and development specialists at that company’s headquarters in Lagga Marma, near Stockholm, Sweden.
Delta Cargo will use Envirotainer containers to ship temperature-sensitive commodities such as pharmaceuticals and certain perishable food products.
Delta Cargo is also taking initial steps towards participating in Envirotainer’s QEP-CEP programme. That has been developed in consultation with the pharmaceutical industry to define those service providers that are capable of using the Envirotainer solution to ensure the integrity of their temperature-sensitive shipments.
