China Airlines is adding a third cargo flight between Houston and Taipei, Taiwan, three months after launching the freighter service.
In May, the airline became the first Taiwanese carrier to offer passenger service from Houston to Taipei and now is the first scheduled Asian carrier with both passenger and cargo service to Houston.
The carrier is focusing its cargo business on Houston’s petrochemical, medical, aerospace and informational technology industries.
One of the major exports to Asia is petroleum exploration equipment.
International airfreight service from Houston rose 13 percent in the first 10 months of 2007 October compared to the same period last year, according to the Houston Airport System.
