The annual FIATA World Congress 2007 kicked off under the hot desert sunin Dubai from 18-22 October 2007.
The five-day International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) congress programme and the concurrent exhibition attracted 1,152 participants from 93 countries and included meetings of FIATA’s Extended Board, Institutes, Advisory Bodies and Regional Committees.
At the open ceremony the overall winner of the “International Young Freight Forwarders Award 2007”, was awarded to Siva Rama Vankineni from Canada.
Delegates at the General Meeting unanimously elected Mr. William Gottlieb (Canada) as FIATA’s new President and approved applications from two new Association members from Jordan and Th ailand.
The next FIATA World congress will be held in Vancouver, Canada from 23-26 September, 2008. It was also announced that the venue of the FIATA World Congress 2010 will be Bangkok, Th ailand. The congress concluded with a gala dinner held at the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, where delegates were given a glimpse of Dubai’s heritage.
Founded in Vienna in 1926, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) is today the largest non-governmental organisation in the fi eld of transportation, representing 40,000 forwarding and logistics companies employing up to 10 million people in 150 countries.
