We received above picture plus related press release from new Brussels-based cargo airline CargoB, which reminded us of a similar photo session we organised at Singapore’s Changi Airport almost 25 years ago.
To illustrate the December issue of the only air cargo publication in Singapore at that time – Changi Air Cargo – we asked the then Flying Tigers manager for Singapore & Malaysia, Sam Riskin, to pose as Santa Claus in the open nose of a B747-100 freighter.
We must admit that Sam, who is now regional vice president for FedEx in Brussels, looked distinctly different in his Santa Claus outfit complete with white beard, than the scantily dressed beauty from Brazil who CargoB managed to put on their main-deck.
But while Sam was sweating in his outfit and cursing the weather of tropical Singapore and refused to make any unnecessary moves in order to stay cool, we must assume that the Brazilian beauty was dancing the night away to stay warm at Brussels’ Zaventem airport in mid-October.
CargoB declined to comment on persistent rumours that on future flights to Brazil the lady will be entertaining the cockpit crew.
